EPE Department has organized ISO-50001 Energy Management System certification course

First time in India to Organize ISO-50001 certification course on Academic Level by EPE Department UPES
Department of Electrical, Power and Energy has organized a workshop on ISO-50001 Energy Management System from 7th Nov to 11th Nov 2017 in association with British Standard Institute (BSI), for the students of M Tech Energy Systems and M Tech Renewable Energy Engg.. This course has been organized for the first time on University level in India by UPES. BSI’s Energy Management Systems (EnMS) Auditor/Lead Auditor Training Course provides students with the skill and knowledge to conduct and lead effective energy management system(EnMS) audits in accordance with the requirements of ISO 50001 and ISO 19011.   The course explains the principles and practices of independent auditing for an EnMS, and guides participants through the entire audit process from managing an audit program to reporting on audit results.  During the course, students have gain the necessary auditing skill through a balance of formal classroom tutorials, practical role-playing, group workshops, and open forum discussions.  In addition, the course has discussed about the integrating ISO 50001 with other management systems, like ISO 14001.Overall, the workshop has provided 360 understanding of ISO 50001 EnMS to the students.  This course is certified by the International Register of Certificated Auditors (IRCA) and meets the training requirements for IRCA Energy Management Systems (EnMS) Auditor Certification. The lead auditor Mr. Jayant Shiradkar has delivered the lecture. He is the industrial expert from energy sector having more than 20 years of industrial experience in which he has executed many energy audits in various companies. Implementation of ISO 50001 is essential requirement of industries for sustainable growth and to meet mandatory statutory body requirement. Thus, this certification will strengthen the student’s CVs and they will stand above all equivalent graduates. 
Upon completion of this certified training, students are able to: 
1. Interpret the requirements of ISO 50001 in the context of an audit 
2. Describe the purpose of an energy management system, of energy management systems standards, of management system audit and of third party certification .
3. Explain the role of an auditor to plan, conduct, report and follow up energy management system audit in accordance with ISO 19011 (and ISO 17021 where appropriate) 
4. Plan, conduct, report and follow up an audit of an energy management systems to establish conformance (or otherwise) with ISO 50001 and in accordance with ISO19011 (and ISO17021 where appropriate)
